Supermolecular engineering in Langmuir-Blodgett films

Abstract

Concurrently with the substantial development of supramolecular engineering in solution, a fascinating field is progressively growing in an attempt to derive benefits from the orientational order provided by organized media such as membranes or monolayers in building novel and active supermolecular machineries. The key role played by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique through three different engineering methods is emphasized.
