Transmission Line Model For Lossy Inverted F Antenna Miniaturization

Résumé

A transmission line (TL) model is derived in this work to allow the study of the lossy inverted F antenna (IFA) characteristics as a function of its geometry. The model allows calculating the antenna's input impedance, radiation efficiency, quality factor and currents at any point of the structure. The expressions of the IFA radio electrical characteristics are generalized and recalculated from [1] in our work to include all kind of losses in the antenna. Furthermore, to ensure high accuracy of the model, the coupling effects between the antenna lines and its terminations are studied where the section of the line close to the termination is modeled by an equivalent lumped network consisting of an inductor in series with the load, and a parallel capacitor.
