Hydrodynamics and Conjugate Mass Transfer Through the Interface of a Translating Spherical Droplet

Résumé

A numerical investigation has been conducted by DNS to investigate the coupling between the internal and the external flows and their respective efects on mass transfer from atranslating droplet in an immiscible phase. Low to moderate Reynolds flows have beeninvestigated 01 < Re < 100. On the first part of this paper, eforts have been made tosuggest new correlations of the drag coefficient and the angle of separation angle in termsof Re and the viscosity ratio . In the second part, computations were focused on flowparameters influence on the conjugate mass transfer and especially the evolution of the Sherwood number. The results has been compared with available experimental and numericaldata. Moreover, through a parametric study, the effct of relevant physical parameters onthe transfer process is investigated. An interesting behavior of Sh is evidenced for low Henry coefficient in a convective dominant process.
