Multi-skill project scheduling in a nuclear research facility

Abstract

This paper addresses the weekly scheduling of the activities within one of the research facilities of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA in short for French). After analyzing the operations and characteristics of the studied laboratory, we conclude that the problem under consideration amounts to an new extension of the classical Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP): a Multi-Skill Project Scheduling Problem with partial preemption. In this document we describe the new RCPSP variant with its respective mixed integer linear programming model.
